Medical Overview and Needs

Jacob was diagnosed with stage 3 Osteocarcoma in the upper right mandible. Treatment consists of 6-8 rounds of chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumor. Each round of chemotherapy is 6 weeks long and includes 4 different chemo medications. The anticipated completion of chemo is summer 2022. In addition to Chemo, Jacob has endured several blood transfusions, medication side effects including extreme weight loss, heart weakness and arthymia, permenant partial hearing loss, and constant nausea.

Calendars for a Cause

More than anything right now Jacob wants to have the iPhone 13 Pro. He’s got lots of friends and family that have iPhones that want to be able to facetime with him and he’s also going to have a LOT of time on his hands recovering in the hospital and is looking for a distraction from the pain. I told Jacob I would work on earning the money to get him one, but realized it would take me a while and by then he may even be out of the hospital! So that’s where the idea of this fundraiser comes from - I didn’t want to just ASK for money for something like a phone, but so m any have reached out wanting to help and I figured this is something I can do to maybe earn this phone a little bit faster!

Updates from the Recovery Unit



November 14 2021



Sunday update synopsis:

Jacob tells me he can’t breathe - he feels like he’s suffocating and doesn’t get enough air. He says the pain meds aren’t working like he hoped they would. There continue to be some setbacks (i.e. return of fever and medication issues) but some improvements as well. The excessive bleeding has stopped, although another blood transfusion was given. Trach issues are the primary concern I believe.

Chemo again



November 30 2021



​Jacob checked back into the hospital on Monday for another round of chemotherapy. Things got off to a bit of a rough start when he spent the night hallucinating and trying to get up and walk around in the middle of the night. He was convinced he was in other worldly environments with wars and special effects.
